It’s definitely impressive to watch such a young artist create music that is truly relatable and one of a kind. Michael Gordon, who goes by the stage name Mk.gee, is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from New Jersey who has accumulated quite a fanbase with his delightful mixture of R&B, disco funk and smooth jazz. As a child, he took piano lessons and began composing piano pieces at age seven and later went on to attend the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles. He released his two singles “Unaware” and “I Know How You Get” in 2017 which were streamed by thousands on Spotify and SoundCloud, building up to his first album that came out the next year.
With funky guitar licks and upbeat rhythms, the album Pronounced Mcgee was titled as such after the common mispronunciation of his stage name. His sophomore album Fool was released later in November of 2018 and encompasses the growing pains of coming into your 20’s. The young musician is going on tour this April and will be hitting up Antone’s in downtown Austin on Tuesday April 28th.
Pull up a chair, grab a drink and stay a while for a funky night infused with just the right amount of that classic feel good jazz guitar sound you can’t help but smile about. By the way, tickets are a steal at only $14 if you get them before the day of the show!
